I like it but I don't linger.

If it was mine, I would crop just below "Thasher" and add some brightness/contrast
to the boy looking at you.

there's a Skatepark on my way to Work, I might have to try my hand

How do you approach these kids?

I don't ask. I start shooting the most difficult spot. the players are doing stuff there, showing skills. Then I shot the players doing other stuff, then the rest. After a while I approached a group of fans & asked if someone knew the good players. I gave cards to them and told them to checkout my site for free downloads.

That said, I'm no expert on what to do (my second skate park), but that worked for me

Good luck Ben its a good shoot. SS500 unless you want hand blur- sun at your back. Saturday afternoons are pretty crowded
