David, I know nothing about it, but I am a skeptic about things that seem too good to be true, especially if they are offered free on the web....
They do have a Facebook page
, and a large following.
The Facebook page does say that jpegminis are for web use, and I suspect are not for use in printing fine art images.
This link suggests that Save for Web may be better, or not, depending on image, and its original file size.
Might be quite useful for folks who do a lot with images on the web. Like Smugmug preview images, perhaps?

I tried it and on the web it compressed the image 2.4x with no noticeable loss in quality.

I haven't tried it out, but I was curious too. I browsed around and the most comments I could find were on this site, under the announcement:
