Tired in Venice

I ran across this guy waiting for his lady at a bathroom at Venice Beach. I was interested in how tired and sad he looked as well as the texture in the background.

I would be tired and sad too if I had to wear those baggy pants.

I like the shot, good mix of textures and great expression. Is it a bit tilted?

Nice catch...especially in catching that hand to the face.

The tilted view is a bit off-putting, though.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, the image feels off kilter. When looking at the vertical column on the right side of the image it's vertical and the blocks behind the guy are horizontal. The top of the bench is only slightly off but the bottom is way off. Also the left column isn't vertical. I'm assuming this is due to the angle that I was standing and the slope of the ground. Should I just ignore the true angles and go from gut on this?

SamoBiker, assuming you didn't crop or straighten already, I think you are just seeing distortion due to the perspective and the position of your camera. You can fix it in Photoshop: make the canvas larger, select the image, and then use the skew and scale tools to fix. Drop some horizontal and vertical guidelines to help.

OTOH, off-kilter can work in some cases, depending on the situation.
