Nice or just "so-so"?

I was messing last night with the daughter's red fluffy blanket and a daffodil from the vase on the windowsill. I was trying to use the cheapo ring-flash I have instead of on camera flash. So, did it work, or is it just so-so?

Technically, you done good. Nice detail and lighting.

Compositionally, though, that daffodil is just stuck there in
the middle of the frame. I think I'd crop it just barely to the
right of edge of the flower and maybe all around. There's
nothing in the background that adds to the image.

Thanks. I agree with you, really.
The reason I didn't crop it tighter was that I was really trying to light the flower, and have a nice background too. To have the background without shadows and so on was part of the goal...

...but yes, I should crop it. :)
