And I would like opinions on these alternative processes for the lion. I was heading towards an "African Plains" sort of colour...

...and a sort of "aged" version without the colour popped lion...

You asked about opinions about the last two.

To me, they look contrived. Like a stuffed lion in front of a backdrop
    in a boardwalk photographer's studio.

I would not normally be so blunt, but when you ask for opinions you
kinda open the door for the negative as well as the positive.

Now, the other images are quite good. Sleepy majesty.

The second image seems to show dust spots on your sensor. (Left sky)
Unless they are something in the actual background, get your blower out.

I like #1, quite good. As to the dust spots on #2..............yes you really do need to clean your sensor.

    Thanks guys.

Tony, I asked for opinions...no need to explain. It's fine that you don't like them. as to the observation that they look like a studio, I sort of had that effect in mind...not necessarily studio, but the old, printed on something other than shiny paper kind of shot. Hard to explain what I mean, but think old style explorers in the jungle with big old cameras with tripods and the big cloak thing on the back...:)

As for the spots (WHY did I not see them???) they are not dust...they are cloning artefacts! There was one big pylon just there...I'll get onto it. :)

    Cheers folks.
