The title says it all, enter up to 3 of your best youth sports photos. Pro, adult, or college sports not allowed. High school or younger. Any sport. Ends Monday July 9, 2012 at 11:59:59pm EDT. I'll post a few of my own favorites to get the juices flowing...

Have fun, thanks!

OUR UN-OFFICIAL GENERAL RULES
1. Have fun sharing and seeing what others share!
2. The host supplies a topic and you post 1-3 images. The host judges the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and is not eligible to enter.
The 1st place winner then chooses the next topic, judges the winner and then passes on the baton to the new champion.
3. Any photo you’ve taken is eligible, regardless of when taken or camera used.
4. Any amount of post-processing is allowed. However, it is helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo.
You may comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you some critique or criticism, just ask within your post.
5. The winner has up to three days (72 hours) to begin a new mini-challenge, or the honor goes to the #2 finisher and so forth.
Guidelines:
1. Enter 1-3 photos and put them in a single post.
2. Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).
3. Also try and resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll (~800 pixels on the longest side works best.)
4. Give each image you enter a title.
5. Enjoy discussion with members about their images, don't let this just be an entry thread!
6. When quoting a post change the IMG urls to a 200x200 size picture so it is clear your post is feedback and not another entry. (see here for help)
7. Don't be hesitant, share'em and enter!
Mini-Challenge pointers:
1. Upon winning a mini-challenge round your first step is coming up with a new theme, and start a new thread using the same format as others have used.
2. Make sure to notify the admin of this thread to update the main thread links with your entry thread.
3. Feel free to watch the thread as it grows or wait to the end time and look at all the entries all at once.
4. After the time/date has passed, then officially close the thread with a single post notifying everyone of the fact.
5. After you're finished judging start a new thread (again use the prior formats) and post your Winner and runners-up, it is important to have runners up incase the winner does not show within the 72hr window.
6. PM the winner with this info above and let them know they have 72hrs.
7. After the 72hrs and the winner does not show up, notify the next runner-up and post a message on the Winner thread of the fact.
8. Remember, if you're the Winner, you run the next mini challenge.

I don't normally do the challenges, but decided to give this one a try! #1 was taken at one of 3 tournaments this team won, and #2 & #3 were taken at the site where the little league world series is played at in Williamsport, Pa.

Nice images so far. I like BroPhoto's #2 shot and Schmegga's first two.

I have nothing for youth sports unless you want to call cheerleading or marching band a sport, lol. The only real sport my daughter ever did was gymnastics many years ago. At that time I didn't have a 'good' camera or lens, so the few pictures I did get are...um...really, really bad.

    Good luck to all.

    That didn't stop me :ivar

I have tons of photos of grandchildren playing baseball or soccer and some of them are even pretty good. I've even got some tennis practice pictures. But while all those photos entered are terrific and I like them very much, I wanted to show something different. I like the lacrosse one for that reason - I had a granddaughter and a great niece with lacrosse scholarships, but I never saw either of them play in person, so I couldn't use those photos. The same for swimming and ice skating - my mother took those. I could only enter those in the Old Photo Association thread.

I think cheerleading could be considered a sport, if it is gymnastic enough. And it would have to be a really outstanding image. Just a pic of a pretty girl posing with pompoms isn't going to be considered.

As a matter of fact, cheerleading is the #1 dangerous sport for girls! Trust me I know. My daughter is a flyer and has been for 4 years.

Some great images here so far! These won't really compete (ha!), but I'll at least add to the variety of sports represented. This is high school equestrian...and I'll focus on a couple of Western events.

Schmegga, I love your second image. I love that the "Iron" of the team's name is visible...that word so clearly matches the determination on the player's face. Truly wonderful!

BroPhoto, your #2 is great also. What a shot!

OMG I've deleted so many otherwise awesome photos that were ruined by gum! (or the kid making an awkward face in general) Great capture, but I always assume most parents do not want to buy pics like this - have you found differently?

I don't shoot that much baseball, but in this case the parents liked it. I shot these for the winner of a fundraiser for my kids school, so I don't know if they would have bought it... but I know what you mean about awkward faces spoiling what otherwise would be a great shot!

    Waiting for the band
My daughter plays in the band, but I know a lot more about football, so I get many more shots of the players than the band. Downside is I don't get halftime off.
