SmugMug theme for WordPress

jchinjchin Registered Users Posts: 713 Major grins
Is there a SmugMug theme that can be used for WordPress?

I am looking to develop my own website using WordPress and have it link to SmugMug for my photo galleries. What I am looking for is a theme for WordPress (to be hosted on my own server) to match the look and feel of SmugMug (or close to it).

Does anyone know of any such theme?
Thanks.

    Thanks!

I am new to WordPress. Is it difficult? I hope it isn't. I just thought that after all this time of people using WordPress and the popularity of SmugMug, that a WP theme would have been made by now.

I hope you can come up with something where we can just take our customized SmugMug header code and plug it right into WordPress. My goal is to keep the navigation between SmugMug and WordPress the same.

    Thanks again.

    beline,

I just took a look at your site. What you accomplished with your site is EXACTLY what I am trying to do. Can you share how you did it?

    Thanks a million.

    Jchin,

Ok, what I did is not for the faint of heart. I actually designed a template, from scratch, for WordPress, then copied the header and footer information from my WordPress theme, and inserted it into my SmugMug theme.

AFAIK, you must have a Pro SmugMug account to change your SmugMug template in such a way.

What I will try to do for you: Create a WordPress template that will (with a plugin) allow you to have your WordPress site mimic the SmugMug site, and any CSS theme you may have selected for your SmugMug site.

Is that what you are looking for? Give me some guidance my friend.

I am taking a look at your site now, understanding a bit more what you are looking for.

Could you PM me the custom code you are currently using in your SmugMug template? So I can test the template?

(There will be no need for a plugin at this point).

[Also:] I seem to be having some trouble accessing your website http://www.jchinphotography.com/

    PM sent.

To keep other SmugMuggers in the loop. I am planning to do something very similar to your site http://www.coverthisphotography.com/ where the galleries section goes to SmugMug (except, I'll keep my Pro URL, http://galleries.jchinphotography.com/).

Actually for the benefit (hopefully) of other SmugMuggers, I am looking for a WordPress theme which has the look-and-feel for SmugMug while allowing us to easily maintain a navigation header across the SmugMug site and the WordPress site.

    Thanks again.

I know that this is an old thread, but interesting to me nonetheless.

Is there a good theme that looks like it would integrate well with Smugmug? My smugmug redirects from photos.feikema.org.

    Thanks,m

    Update for New Smugmug?
I am trying to do what this thread discusses. I have put a lot of effort into customizing my smugmug site (http://www.Tuffer.com) and now I need a blog that is as integrated as possible. Crossing my fingers that there is an easy way (or at least comprehensive explaination) for how to set up a Wordpress (or, possibly Blogger) site that mirrors the formatting, navigation, and general look and feel of my smugmug site.

Any new information on this beyond the thread above now that the new SM is out?
