Rummaging through my dad's old photography gear, I found this little lens, 35-80 f4-5.6D...

In the midst of all of the newer lenses, I have to say that this lens comes in a tiny package, but gives them a run for the money! :clap

These are all SOOC with in-camera sharpening (6) applied on a D800.

Post up your old, old lenses!

I will always have a place in my heart for AIS Nikon glass. Over the years, I have owned and used a handful of classics, from the mythical 25-50 f/4 AIS, to the "Galen's favorite", 24mm f/2.8 AIS.

The 35mm f/1.4 AIS and 50mm f/1.2 AIS are INCREDIBLE to shoot with, too.

I'm on the hunt for a handful of various lenses that I'd love to own, just for kicks. I'd love to have the 20mm f/4, I hear it is incredibly sharp and light as heck. I'd also love to get the 24 f/2, for stars and such. (Considering how huge and heavy the 24 f/1.4's are, even though they're probably much sharper)

I still can't decide on something wider, though. Maybe another 20mm but the 2.8 version, maybe a Tokina 17mm f/3.5, maybe the Nikon 15mm f/3.5 beast, I dunno. Heck while I'm dreaming, I'll take the Zeiss 18mm, although I guess that doesn't qualify as "old glass", just "manual focus glass"...

Haha, I do enjoy the nice optics of the newer lenses, but the old lenses just feel different. (although they're probably not very different)

The 24 f1.4 is heavy, big, and did I say, heavy?

Although people say the D800 reveals the flaws of "inferior" lenses, the old lens from my dad's film days looks perfectly fine!
    I'll try out the 80-200 2.8 push-pull, sometime soon!

One more vote from me for the 50mm f/1.2, it's one lens that lets you experience some of the best things you can enjoy in photography. And since I'm in dream mode I really want the 13mm f/5.6 AIS. Given that that's almost impossible, the 17-35 (which does not qualify as an old lens though) does alleviate the yearning a bit, especially since it can go really close for a wide-angle.

And what a psychedelic tripod mount on the 'Olan Mills Schneider-Kreuznach BETA-VARIOGON 4.5/75-150 LF'.
