Xena Goes All Bond on Us

Finishing up my weapons set with Xena, we added her to my Bond Girl project. YES, her finger is on the trigger (as opposed to the "correct" method in my other Xena post, so if that's your only comment - I KNOW already.

As a comment was made in the "Rambo" thread, this is more Black Widow from Avengers or a female character from GI Joe. If it were a James Bond theme I don't think it works. The photography, poses and lighting are good.

Thanks jon. I think my age would dictate Dianna Rigg as Emma Peel in The Avengers. Probably before you were born.

In any event, I'm curious what you would do to make it more "Bond". Serious question for anybody on here.

Steve, just a quick observation for you: in almost every pic of Xena in both of these sets, she has had EXACTLY the same facial expression (5 above is the only exception, with that little hint of a smile). Maybe next time you work with her see what else you can coax out of her? Just a thought.

I think you nailed it on the head. This set is much more Emma Peel than it is a Bond girl.

Bond girls brought to the screen a quality of glamor, sophistication and sexiness with just a hint of danger all rolled into one.

I think to properly pull it off you need to bring the glamor/sophistication/sexiness to the forefront and then add the element of danger/intrigue as something that is discovered by the viewer after the glamor/sophistication hits them in the head. Not the other way around as these are.

My two cents since you asked.

Diva, I agree but the expressions for the Bond Girl (or the Avengers) pretty much takes out anything "smiley" other than a smirk. If you see my other thread with Xena, you'll see more expressions.

Bryce, I see your point but I haven't got a clue how to do that. Thanks for answering the question. I really was (and am) curious. In any event, I'll settle for Emma Peel pretty happily if all I got wrong is the title.

If you are going for a capable agent on par with Bond, it would be more sexy dress, but then reaching for her gun that has the holster on her leg. Angelina Jolie type stuff on Mr and Mrs Smith. It's just more subtle.

For a Bond girl, its the glamour with dramatic lighting with a hint of danger.

And this is Black Widow in the recent Avenges movie.

As an aside - only somewhat OT - do y'all know the provenance of the name "Emma Peel" ( my hubby is enough older than me that he remembers it). The expression "Man Appeal" was popular in 60's UK.... and then became shortened to "M Appeal", thus they stole it when the created the character! Ah me - loved the old Avengers. Diana Rigg at her finest (even if SHE hated the lingering impact of the role on her career, it was still brilliant!)
