Hi, Found this lump of drift wood on the beach a while back - I really liked the surface texture.

Nice shot! I take a lot of these when I'm roaming the woods and beaches. It's more challenging that people realize. You really nailed the textures. Well processed and nice DOF.

What a find - I love stuff like this!
Really nice capture and conversion Richard.
It looks like an group of spiral galaxies.
I'd be tempted to crop the upper-left corner to complete the frame-fill - but that's totally just a personal preference thing.

Terrific work, Richard. Finding a jewel of a subject like this one is only half the battle. The other half is what makes or breaks it. I would say you have excelled in handling the tougher half. thumb.gif Excellent overall presentation.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Hi, thank you very much for your positive feedback - I normally take this type of shot after I've photographed the location - then look for texture detail.

    Cheers, Richard.

Hi Eric, My interpretation of the 'spiral galaxies' was a bit closer to home. I thought they looked like the sky from Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh (thanks to Don McLean). As for the tighter crop - totally agree with you - once I put this one onto canvas that area will be on the wrap edge.

    Cheers for now, Richard.

Hi Tom, really appreciate your feedback - thank you. Almost went to the ends of the world to find this piece of wood. The very very bottom of South East Tasmania, Fishers Point, a few K's walk from Cockle Creek, magnificent location - check it out on Google Earth. Must go back there one day to do some serious photography.

    Cheers for now, Richard.
