Pointing my old DNS

Whenever I have ever pointed a DNS entry it has always been to an IP address, not to a http address as I don't even think you can do this.

So is there an IP Address that I would use point my old site to that you could provide me?

Thanks,

glenn

    Hi Glenn,

As I and many others have done, you edit your CName record with your registrar. There's lots of info here in this smugmug help page. The reason it's not good to point to a specific ip address, is that with multiple data centers, i.p. addys can change - and thus you'd be out until you changed to a new i.p. address. so, as per the help page, we recommend ediiting the CName record to gshutter.smugmug.com. There are specific instructions in that link I provided.

    Hope this helps,
