space/padding/margin around navigation links?

Hi,
I'm using the NYX template and I wish I could add some space to the edges of my navigation links. See screenshot. There is no space between the link text and the pictures if I right justify, and no space between the link text an the browser border if I left justify.
Am I missing a padding/margin setting somewhere in the menus? Or is there some CSS that'll fix it?
