We need a link for posting photos that does not expose the path in the browser URL.
I can not find a link to embed a photo in my blog. The only link I can find is
from Share > "get a link"' and that's not acceptable as it exposes the path in the URL.

On the legacy site we could use this for any photo.

Here are links from my unlisted gallery for linking to forums. Both from Share > "get a link".

Notice they are the same when gallery is unlisted.
Using that method I constructed this.

It redirects to

Using both cdn.smugmug.com and www.smugmug.com also redirect back to the full path showing.
So there's not even a way to hide my site in the URL.

Hi.
Previously on SmugMug there was a trick to get an anonymous link to a picture in a given size to e.g. post on a forum. But after the updates recently I can't find how to do that. The only way I know that still works is to "copy" the picture to an anonymous gallery and create the link from there, but that creates an artifact in the site structure that should not be necessary. The galleries I'd like to share from may be either unlisted or listed.
After some experimenting I've found ways to link a picture like http://username.smugmug.com/pictures/String_from_end_of_original_link-X2.jpg, but if I substitute "username" with "www" it redirects to the username-version of the link and thus the username is exposed which is what I'd like to hide.
Of course there will always be ways to find out, e.g. by asking SmugMug, but that is just fine. There are times when I'd like to post a picture in a mail without sharing large parts of my photo hobby with the recipient.
So... Is there still such a trick?

Now, after posting I found it. Of course...
Get a Link -> copy link -> substitute part between "http://" and the fourth '/' from the end with "photos.smugmug.com/photos".
Then the original filename is leaked if it is a listed gallery. If that should be a problem (it isn't for me) then remove the filename (from last '/' to the last '-') and copy the part between the fourth and third '/'s from the end to that place (after the last '/' but before the last '-').
Still not very short but that's what URI shorteners are for and IIRC SmugMug have one.
If the moderator finds this unneccessary or a duplicate, please feel free to remove it...
Just the final part after /photos/....

In that case your filename is "4" (where I often have IMG_12345 or something more descriptive). But that can be substituted with the code earlier in the string like:
