Cactus flower

High key conversion done in photoshop to salvage this shot of a beautiful flower. The catus has flowered in our garden but it is located in such a lousy position I cannot get a good shot at it. Its flowers are so thin and amount of light goes through all the petals and merging all into a singluar colour mess.
The conversion I selected utilises colour IR filter to get the outlines.
1. to get the outline I have used Infrared:color from nik colo efex pro 2.
2. Delete background elements
3. Correct color to be a bit more natural
4. Mix with original at 72% - this gives the water colour looking background and softens up the clinical deletion of the background from step 2
(repost from STF - my apologies to these who visit both)

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
