Long Exposures and AEB
I have just encountered a couple of problems whilst visiting Glen Etive in the Highlands.
1.
When I took a long exposure using my 10 stop on the 5D Mk111 and after releasing the shutter button a red light appears and I have to wait(pending how many secs the exposure) until the exposure appears on the LCD screen. On the 5Dmk 11 when taking long exposures the exposure appears on the LCD as soon as I release the shutter button.
2.
I don't do many HDR shots but I do have the bracketing sequence within the menu on the 5DMk111. Whilst away I decided to take a shot for HDR to run through Photomatix Pro. I tried and better tried to get the three shots, under exp. ordinary and over exposed but was unable to get them bracketed to take the shot. When I got home I checked the M111 manual but I am still unable to bracket the three exposures. There is obviously something I am not doing right.
With the Mk11 I have the AEB set on the menu and everything is straight forward no problem.
I hope you don't mind me posting both problems within the same thread.

I believe that you have "long exposure noise reduction" (LE-NR) enabled on the 5D MKIII, and disabled on the 5D MKII.
LE-NR, when enabled, takes a second "dark frame" exposure after the primary exposure. The dark frame exposure data is subtracted from the primary exposure to effectively reduce noise from fixed sensor noise (like hot pixels and pixel sensitivity variations).
