How to navigate back to home page from a Gallery

I've noticed that in my new SmugMug site, when a visiter comes to my site and then visits a Gallery, once in the Gallery there is no way to navigate back to my homepage. Is there a way to make this possible?

There are a number of ways but you haven't taken advantage of them! The first option is to drop a "Breadcrumb" content block into the top of your page. I'm actually surprised it's not there, because it's there by default. You must have deleted it. It's the little part that has a home icon, then lists what gallery you're in, etc.

Another way is to take advantage of either the header, left, or right sidebars. Create a "Menu" content block (aka a navbar) and put the links like "Home", "Galleries", "About", etc, in the navbar. You can "pin" (aka, lock) a section down ... you could pin your header so that a navbar in the header is always shown, or you can pin a left sidebar so it is always shown, even if the user scrolls way down.

    Happy customizing.

Thanks for the advice. Could you give me specific and detailed instructions on how to drop the breadcrumb? I spent 45 minutes trying to do it with no avail. Thanks!!

Go to customize -> customize site. Click on "All Galleries". Go to the content tab and under "Navigation" click on "Breadcrumb." Drag it onto the page. There are certain "hot spots" that make a green box come up ,depending on where you drag. Once you're in one of those hot spots, let go. Repeat under the "All Folders". Click Publish.

You should prob. just start over from scratch. You somehow removed all the default features that would solve your problem and I'm not sure why you are having problems dragging the breadcrumb content block and menu content block onto your site. You should prob. watch some of the videos that smugmug has put together. They actually show you how to do them. You'll prob. bash your head into the wall saying "how did I not realize this before" ... because it's actually really easy.

Start over doing what from scratch? Creating the whole website? Or just creating the Galleries page?

    Hi Tony,

Your galleries are set to "Hide Owner" in the Gallery Settings, so the breadcrumb will not work on the galleries. Did you mean to have hide owner enabled?

No, I didn't mean to have hide owner enabled. Could you please give me step by step click instructions for how to get to the screen to turn it off. I followed the directions on the Smugmug new customization site and it doesn't appear when I go to Organize/Galleries/Settings. Many thanks again!!
