Mourning Warbler ???

I think that this is a mourning warbler. Anyone know for sure?

My wife took these photos with her Canon ELF S500 P&S.

I've posted a few before where I've had wild birds sit on my hand. I don't know why, but they seem to trust me. Normally, the birds were born around my house, but this bird was in the wild in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I think that he was looking for a handout.

Just the same I always think that it is pretty neat when they will sit on my hand.

To all - yep, I'm back for a while. I'm going down to Florida the first week in Dec. to shoot some and drop in on Harry.

Jeff, I think they mesmerize me more than I do them as to being a "whisperer."

Ric, thanks for putting that up again. I missed it before since I've been traveling so much.

    Ben, thanks to you also.

Hey, Hi, Dixie, now I owe you one, but I have to say that is really cool to have that bird sit in your hand!

They fly away from me at the first hint I might be around.

    Pretty little bird, too.

Wow. Now that is cool :): Come on Dixie, you're among friends. You can admit that you're a Bird Whisperer lol3.gif

I'd love to have that happen to me. I'd never get a shot off, but just to have a wild creature sitting in my hand would be an experience I'd never forget.

Thanks everyone. I was trying to get close with 24-70 while the bird was sitting in one of gaps in the logs on the old Little Greenbrier School and I was talking softly to the bird to get his attention. The next thing I knew he flew right up to me and hovered in front so I let the camera down on it's strap and held out my hand. To my surprise he lit on my finger tips. My wife said that he wasn't showing up well so I walked over by the wall to change the background and all he did was move up on my thumb.

Here is one of my photos of the same bird. Click photo for EXIF data.
