A reflection on Greece

Since the economic and civil unrest in Greece began a few years ago I've been quite keen on getting to Greece to explore. Curious to see a country after a somewhat unprecedented event in our modern times, my mind was wondering how such a wonderful country would bounce back after and during tough times.

So this is a short photo essay on the beauty and a bit of grittiness of Athens & Santorini.

A lot of Greeks seemed pretty upbeat despite the hard times that still persist in the country, this taxi driver appeared to be enjoying a good contemplative cigarette.

Evidence of the Greek economic troubles was visible everywhere. Pictured are new houses awaiting work to restart. Or not.

Visitors check out the new Acropolis Museum. The museum was very well done and interesting to see, a must see if you!

Santorini was as beautiful as I imagined. Perhaps more. As you travel you see sometimes see destinations that seem over hyped. Santorini was not one of them. I could have stayed a month easy.

I couldn't not get a classic view of the gorgeous Santorini scenery. I don't think I've ever been to a place with so many fellow photographers clamoring for shots. Everyone was nice but you had to get in place early to get your shots sometimes.

Thanks very much for the kind words. Very much a beautiful place that we plan to visit again. Sooo much more to see although I could have spent a month photographing Santorini alone.

Very nice take on the place. Usually, you see bright/contrasty photos but yours give it a different look.

Glad to see Lego dude made it too...usually, he's locked away doing something else :D

Thanks Ian! Glad to hear I was able to get a different take on the matter, it is certainly a challenge to present mega photographed destinations in a different light.
