Problem in IE8 - ideas please!

My site works fine in Firefox and IE on a wide screen.
However, at work I have IE8 on a smaller screen and I find that:
a) Folders and galleries 'bounce' when I scroll to the bottom of the page.
b) In the Lightbox, I have used some of the suggested CSS coding to modify the appearance, but the captions appear over the photos in IE8. Again, it works fine at home.
Ideas, anyone?
