Mini Challange # 182 - Reflections
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title -->I think some of the most beautiful photographs are those that show a reflection of some sort - usually with water, but not necessarily. Show me your best reflections, be it a pool, or a mirrored window, or whatever. Not really looking for the idea of "reflecting on the past" as that would take us down a whole different road. Lets keep it to actual, physical reflections. Looking for your best quality photography here.

DUE BY 23 FENRUARY!

**************************************************************************

OUR UN-OFFICIAL GENERAL RULES
1. Have fun sharing and seeing what others share!
2. The host supplies a topic and YOU POST 1-3 IMAGES. The host judges the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and is not eligible to enter. The 1st place winner becomes the next host, chooses the next topic and becomes the next judge.
3. Any photo you’ve taken is eligible, regardless of when taken or camera used.
4. Any amount of post-processing is allowed. However, it is helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo.
5. You may comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you some critique or criticism, just ask within your post.
6. The winner has up to three days (72 hours) to begin a new mini-challenge, or the honor goes to the #2 finisher and so forth.

IMPORTANT: ENTRIES DUE NO LATER THAN 9PM EASTERN TIME ON Sunday, February 23, 2014

Guidelines:
1. Enter 1-3 photos and put them in a single post.
2. Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).
3. Also try and resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll (~800 pixels on the longest side works best.)
4. Give each image you enter a title.
5. Enjoy discussion with members about their images, don't let this just be an entry thread!
6. When quoting a post, change the IMG urls to a 200x200 size picture so it is clear your post is feedback and not another entry. (See here for help).
7. Don't be hesitant; share 'em and enter!

Mini-Challenge pointers:
1. Upon winning a mini-challenge round, your first step is coming up with a new theme and starting a new thread using the same format as others have used.
2. Make sure to notify the admin of this thread to update the main thread links with your entry thread.
3. Feel free to watch the thread as it grows or wait to the end time and look at all the entries all at once.
4. After the time/date has passed, then officially close the thread with a single post notifying everyone of the fact.
5. After you're finished judging, start a new thread (again using the prior formats) and post your Winner and runners-up. It is important to have runners up in case the winner does not show within the 72-hour window.
6. PM the winner with this info above and let them know they have 72 hours to set up the next mini-challenge.
7. If the winner does not show/start the next mini-challenge after 72 hours, notify the next runner-up and post a message on the Winner thread of the fact.
8. Remember, if you're the Winner, you run the next mini challenge!

    Stable relationship.
    eye3_800.jpg

Repeated as I knew where to find it, others do it, but mainly because the original intent was to capture the reflection, rather than anything else :)

    1. This isn't one of my best photographs ever, but it is an odd reflection that I ended up liking in spite of the images shortcomings. This was taken at a zoo through one of those (dirty, smudged with kids fingerprints) viewing windows that lets the visitor see underwater into the alligator area. This is the underwater part of the alligator reflecting back.

I can't hope to compete with so many marvelous photos - especially the horse's eyeball. So I'll submit a couple of ones for your amusement. Reflections are something that I have been playing with for 56 years - not only regular reflections like in water, but a whole bunch of selfies. These were picked because they are not reflections in water or in a mirror.

This one is one of the first photos on the first roll of film that I took with my first 35 mm camera - a selfie of me when I was twenty years old in the bulletin board on the square at my college.

    0006-00750003%25206-3-2009%252010-27-31%2520PM.JPG

The very first photo in this roll was a reflection in a basement window but it is light struck because it was partly on the leader. (I guess some of you don't remember loading film and leaders, but in back in the day I hated to waste film - not only did we have to pay for the film, but we also had to pay to have it developed) My dad gave me the camera as a 20th birthday gift. It was a Kodak Retina Reflex.

This next one is also a film photo from 1964 - my family (my me, kids and my husband) reflected in the hubcap of our VW bus. But it should not be considered for the challenge because after looking at it carefully - I think it was taken by my dad. It is interesting so I'll leave it in here - my dad was doing reflections in odd surfaces even before I was.

    00140035.jpg

I'll substitute in here a reflection in a train window in which I am a headless photographer

    100_1746.JPG

And I'm still doing reflections - this one was the sink of the bathroom on the Disney ship - June 2013
