Urban Paddling: Belle Isle, FL

Last weekend we visited my cousin and his fiance', in Belle Isle, a quiet community near Orlando, not far from the airport. Their backyard is quite peacefully guarded by tall wooden fences and a large overhanging tree at the edge of the bordering canal. The narrow canal meanders through the neighborhood, opening up to Lake Conway (middle), where there's roughly 1800 acres of super clear water, sandy bottom lake bed, and beautiful boat houses at the ends of wooden docks.

In our usual form, we rallied the two lovebirds into a bit of paddling, and the weekend was a success, in terms of beautiful scenery and good times all around. Of course, Beth and I served as their personal paparazzi...after all, it was their anniversary weekend!

Now, they have the fever to acquire a pair of kayaks or stand-up paddleboards! We paddled Saturday and Sunday, as well as a little bit Monday evening. The photos below are from all the days.
