Password protected pages suddenly are "Accessible by Anyone with the Link"

How can it be that the pages with inherited security in a password protected sharegroup page are suddenly "Accessible by Anyone with the Link"?

I use the world 'suddenly' because I have discovered only yesterday.

I'm baffled and shocked and I hope it's something trivial.
