Oceano Dunes - Game of Shadows

Oceano dunes are located near Pismo Beach, CA, towards central coast. Most of the dunes are reserved for doon-buggies and ATVs and rest are reserved for birds that are hatching eggs. I found a spot where fence had fallen.....risk worth taking I thought. Below are my attempts....all criticism and helpful pointers are cherished!

1) Waiting for them to unlock the gates to road that goes to Oso Flaco lake......farm workers get going pre-dawn in the fog

    I like #8 and 12 the best. They are good in composition with lines to lead your eye through the entire scene.

    #7 looks like a sand wave hitting the cliff and I love the lines of #5

    I'm partial to #9 due to the simplicity. My eyes start at the top, move down and then back up to the top so I spend an extra second looking through it, and I think that's important for a photo to keep one there a little longer. I like the idea of #8, but the blah sky doesn't do anything for me up at the top. Now, #3 is a hoot! Thanks for posting parts of the entire trip.

    You should consider cropping #3 so that the guy and machine are in the top 3rd.

    Try it. I think you'll like it.

    +1. That would concentrate the the perceived action a bit, not to mention improve the comp.

    The sky was indeed blah....so good excuse to go back out there...

    I reworked #3 based on your input, and hope I got it right....i do like it...its more obvious what is going on.....can rework again...Cheers!

    They're all well done, but 3 and 5 especially appeal to me. Dunes are a great subject.

    Nice story collage. Something about 5, I just keep going back
    to. Really nice leading lines, texture, soft light and comp. An image you
    can just "stay in".
