On December 29, 2014, we announced that we were looking into measures to address the issue reported by some users, namely that when photographing scenes in which an extremely bright light source, such as the sun or high-intensity lighting, is positioned near the top edge of the frame, flare with an unnatural shape sometimes occurs in images captured with the D750 digital SLR camera.

To correct this issue, Nikon will inspect and service, at no cost, the camera’s light-shielding components and adjust the AF sensor position. We plan to initiate this service at the end of January and will announce further details, including instructions for requesting servicing, shortly.

I bet I've taken more photos than anybody else with my new D750 without caring about this problem. Probably passing ~20-30K clicks about now... Oh well, I guess I should get it looked at since it's free service...

I guess it's nice they're acknowledging the potential problem this time rather than the shambles that happened with the D600...are they learning?

Nikon D750 owners may now check to see if they have an affected body:

https://support.nikonusa.com/app/D750/sn

If the serial number matches, you will be directed to a page with further information about returning the body to Nikon.

Note that Nikon recommends using a very modern web browser, as some users are reporting that earlier versions of IE do not work to print the UPS return label.

Oh boy, I'm infected. I mean affected. But my D750 is Grey, hmm. I think I'll keep shooting until it actually causes an issue in my photography...
