Photo delete selection cancels randomly

Small but rather annoying issue with the old legacy smugmug.
I have a gallery I've been going through selecting photos to delete. After a while, all the photos I've selected are removed and I have to start again.
It's happened several times at different intervals, different number of selected photos, and I can't figure out why.
Rather annoying when you've spent 10 minutes selecting the 200 odd photos to delete and then you realise your selection has been lost!
I will try again in a different browser in case it could be that (using Firefox 36.0.1 on Windows at the moment).

If you click on a photo to select it but hastily move off it before releasing the mouse button, it highlights only that, deleting any previous selection.
Edit: keeping Ctrl held down helps. It's a little cleverer than I thought. :O
