Predatory Mite
These images were put aside while my new PC was commissioned and have been forgotten about. They required quite strong micro contrast treatment to correct diffraction effects.
This is one of the Mesostigmata, Gamasina, probably a female Pergamasus sp. These are about 1.5mm long. They feed on springtails and other small arthropods. This one was on a dryish rotten log.
The images have been cropped laterally.
EM-1, reversed Schneider HM 40mm on extension and TC, flash, hand-held.
