Unexpected. HOW to tell two cameras apart????

a G10 and a G10 IR

heck, we even hung the straps the exact same way. I'm not inclined to put a sticker on one or something silly, so aside from that ... (and I LIKE the neck straps so don't want to replace those either)....

How DO I tell these bloody things apart aside from turning them on (different start up images) and such?? :scratch :scratch :scratch

I'm hitting a creative wall here. HELP!

Why would you be against a small smuugy sticker to identify your camera.....normally I will engrave my name and DL into the bottom of all of my cams......just a thought:D

I do use a custom tag that I hang off of the neck strap to keep track of my IR converted XT/350D. I don't want to make a mistake and pick up the wrong camera.

As far as I know the most reliable method to tell a dedicated IR camera is with a test image or, in the case of a digicam the preview image, of a red and blue target. The IR camera image should look very bright for the red and very dark for the blue. Pointing the digicam at a remote control works pretty well too. The IR beam of the remote control will appear visible in the digicam LCD.

Once you know which is which, use a tag or something obvious to indicate which is which. It won't look nearly as silly as if you pick up the wrong one by accident. Automotive stores have cable/wire ID tags that work pretty well to and they can be small and discrete.

hmm. I could see doing that, in such a way that it's not in the way and discreet and doesn't get too tangled.

Just take a sharpie and put a mark under the battery cover door or the memory card door. Not visible, but distinguishable. Simple solution.

yeah, but I have to be able to pick it up and tell them apart before shooting. I can turn it on and see that one is IR and one is not.

Mark? Yes! Not IR...
Mark? No! IR...
(or vice versa)
A small ziptie on the bottom of the strap was a good idea also.

Yeah that's probably the best idea. Also most expensive unless you know how to embroider.

They serve the very purpose of distinguishing your camera from its lookalikes...

... although I must confess that embroidered straps are a tad attractive too. Let us know where you ordered your lanyards. How did the embroidery go?
