So, here we are, knockin' around Maui and there's talk of a hurricane...no wait....tropical storm...no wait...tropical rainstorm...nevermind it missed us altogether. Since I had the day off and needed to do some shooting for myself (instead of the resorts and realtors), I figured wide angle would be a great theme for the day.

Here are a few shots from our little mini-excursions of the day. Thanks for looking!

All shots:

Canon 7D
Tokina ATX 11-16 f/2.8 PRO
All handheld, all single exposures

#1 A view of Kihei and Wailea

#2 Not really sure what this was designed for, but it's super fun for spinning around and getting dizzy then running oddly through the grass.

Fun stuff, JB. It's really a great exercise to spend a day shooting wide angles. I love Maui and you got some great skies there. My favorites are 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, 15 and 19.

My own personal preference on shooting wide is to keep the near foreground sharp to see closeup details. So 5 and 13 wouldn't be my choices. However, CCoop liked #5, so that just goes to show you how subjective this is. Great set all the way around though. thumb.gif

A very nice collection and it looks like you had a great time! My two favorites are 19 and 20.

I guess what I liked about #5 is the energy of the diagonals, from dark gray to light gray to the water, and even the clouds have a little bit of that going on. All of these flowing from left to right. Nice energy. I also appreciate that in #1 and #3.
