Can you kindly uncover secret behind the watermark placement and resizing, please? Does the images designated as watermark stretches up to 80% of the horizontal side of the containing photograph? 70%? Does it resize proportionally or not? Do you treat differently a square shape vs. rectangle? etc.
I did read the official watermark help article. The information there has nothing to do with my question,

We recommend creating a transparent document with 1600 x 200 px dimensions and position your logo in the corner you'd like to show it on the images. I'm not sure if you've seen this help page, where we explain how to create a transparent watermark step by step, http://help.smugmug.com/customer/en/portal/articles/93156-how-do-i-create-transparent-watermarks-?b_id=1644
If you use a cropped version (leaving no room around the watermark), it will look larger on the photos, indeed, depending on the size of the transparent file itself. I took a few screenshots for your about my own watermark, cropped and using the above mentioned dimensions, so you can see the difference.
