The next challenge will be focusing on a hot, controversial subject:

Technology today is affecting our lives in many, may ways, good or bad. Have you noticed this?
Please show us what have you seen with your camera.

***This challenge will run from today for two weeks, until 11 April - midnight Pacific Standard Time

Here are some very few examples of what I have seen - you will have for sure some more other instances to illustrate this subject.

1. Technology we have to live with

<img src="http://www.travelwaysphotos.com/Las-Vegas-pictures/Near-Las-Vegas/i-RxSmffL/0/L/Powerlines-desert-L.jpg" alt="">

6. Technology today creatively used - Humor is welcome :)

* Please respect the Rules and Guidelines:

OUR UN-OFFICIAL GENERAL RULES
1. Have fun sharing and seeing what others share!
2. The host supplies a topic and you post 1-3 images. The host judges the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and is not eligible to enter.
The 1st place winner then chooses the next topic, judges the winner and then passes on the baton to the new champion.
3. Any photo you’ve taken is eligible, regardless of when taken or camera used.
4. Any amount of post-processing is allowed. However, it is helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo.
You may comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you some critique or criticism, just ask within your post.
5. The winner has up to three days (72 hours) to begin a new mini-challenge, or the honor goes to the #2 finisher and so forth.
Guidelines:
1. Enter 1-3 photos and put them in a single post.
2. Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).
3. Also try and resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll (~800 pixels on the longest side works best.)
4. Give each image you enter a title.
5. Enjoy discussion with members about their images, don't let this just be an entry thread!
6. When quoting a post change the IMG urls to a 200x200 size picture so it is clear your post is feedback and not another entry. (see here for help)
7. Don't be hesitant, share'em and enter!
Mini-Challenge pointers:
1. Upon winning a mini-challenge round your first step is coming up with a new theme, and start a new thread using the same format as others have used.
2. Make sure to notify the admin of this thread to update the main thread links with your entry thread.
3. Feel free to watch the thread as it grows or wait to the end time and look at all the entries all at once.
4. After the time/date has passed, then officially close the thread with a single post notifying everyone of the fact.
5. After you're finished judging start a new thread (again use the prior formats) and post your Winner and runners-up, it is important to have runners up incase the winner does not show within the 72hr window.
6. PM the winner with this info above and let them know they have 72hrs.
7. After the 72hrs and the winner does not show up, notify the next runner-up and post a message on the Winner thread of the fact.
8. Remember, if you're the Winner, you run the show.

I thought about a similar scene for this challenge after two visits to Doel in the recent years, but glad I didn't. Yours is much better thumb.gif

I hope we get more entries, 6 so far seems a bit on the low side headscratch.gif

OK, here are my entries. I have searched through thousands of photos and found only six that remotely fit the bill. It seems that my photographic aesthetic does not include the modern! Here are three pictures that at least fit the subject.

    1) Cambridge, England
This was snapped in 2009 when I was still using a Canon PowerShot P&S. I have always loved the anacronism pictured with the centuries-old door that uses a computerized key-card entry system.

    20090621_143_cambridge-XL.jpg

    2) The modern bike rider: my bike cockpit during a tour, with my old cell phone being used as gps navigator, being charged over usb from my dynamo

    20140415_357_DMC-G5-XL.jpg

    3) Selfies in Piazza San Marco, Venice
(I played in pp with the Nik tolls that I downloaded last week. Hopefully not too over-the-top.)

    Cheers to all, Sara

I have lots and lots of photos in this category. So I have picked three - Electricity, transportation and health. Two of the three of them are what I think of as ugly - the ugliness of technology

    #1 Ugly
    x100_8631.jpg

Electricty - this was taken from a tour bus in Lima, Peru

    #2 Distructive
    100_4857%2B4-2-2008%2B9-54-17%2BAM.jpg

Transportation - this was taken in Pompeii. They have the big stepping stones across the streets so that carriage wheels can go through them (early pedestrian crossing). Apparently there has been a wheeled vehicle that has passed through here and they have filled the gap and used ramps to get through the stepping stones. I think that the technology is the tractor (or whatever vehicle it was) overlaying the ancient site.

    #3 - Ouch
    IMG_1393.JPG

Medical. This was a sharps container in the handicapped bathroom in an airport in England.

I don't want to put the titles on the top. That's not in the rules. Why are you being so picky?

For me it's just a common sense - leave them as they are if you feel that's better for you.

I feel that I have complied with the rules as they are written and there shouldn't be any chastisement or stern corrections by anyone for not following unwritten rules.

    grandmaR,

Unless everybody here is wrong, a title normally goes on the top of any content.

    * Just imagine yourself reading a newspaper article, and find the title only at the end :)

This is not an unnecessary formality. In the case of these challenges, the idea is to make it easier for people to "read" an image.
    - That's why the Guidelines mention about giving the photo a title.

I don't want to appear being absurd, but when I first looked at your photos it took me some time to figure out for example how your second photo was related to electricity.

I honestly had to go back three times to realize that the word "Electricity" was actually in the title of the entry above...

Now, I know what your photos are about and it doesn't matter anymore where the title is.

Some other people however may have the same problem identifying your entries, but probably this is not important to you.

As I said, if you feel better this way, leave them as they are.

If I was too rude to you I apologize. I should have probably just ignored your entries and not made any comment. I promise I'll do this next time.

I really don't want to put titles on my pictures. The photo should speak for itself without any verbiage. I put the three categories at the top, and the photos followed that list. I only added the numbers (which should have told you which picture it referred to) and the words because the rules require it.

I put the explanation (if one is required) in the caption which goes underneath the photo.

So you are right - titles go at the top. But I am putting the explanation on the bottom and I am using that as the required title.

You asked for more entries and so I stopped what I was doing and looked for appropriate photos and then picked the ones that I thought met the requirements of the mini. I was very annoyed and hurt when all you could do was complain about the position of the titles.
