Formerly in Coprinus, this species seems less restricted by the seasons than most mushrooms, occurring in my garden throughout much of the year. This group of three was on the grassy path which leads to the bottom of our garden. Mushrooms in this group can mature and dissolve into the wet, black spore dispersion which gives the common collective name of "inkcaps" in less than a day.

EM-1 (manual mode), Kiron 105, f16, twin flash hand-held, with support from a garden stool.

    Thanks, Brian.

Might be a bit of a flop but I'm sure someone must have tried the "ink" as a mixer!

    Thanks, SB & Paul.

I find them to be more cooperative than insects. :D

I was just walking past that spot a few minutes ago when a female Scorpionfly landed on my bare arm.
