This grassland species is often to be found on chalk grasslands rich in wild flowers.The larvae feed on grass.
This one was in an orchid-rich meadow in sunlight. They are difficult to catch up with, as they rarely settle and fly up as you approach. Persistence pays off. These are daylight exposures.

I really went to shoot orchids but the diversity was low.
These butterflies were very evasive and biting horseflies tried my patience.

It was just two slightly different angles at the same position, to shoot between grass flowering stems etc, which were very numerous, while maintaining a good plane of focus.
