Canon Picture Styles

At that wedding I did two weeks back I shot RAW, and as a result I got to play around with Canon's Digital Photo Professional for conversion. And I tried using their built-in Picture Styles. I ended up using the Portrait setting for nearly everything and liking it quite a bit. Being someone who doesn't do portraits a lot (or, for that matter, not shooting RAW a lot) I was wondering what others thought of Canon's picture styles.

I have never used DPP. What does the portrait style setting do to the photos? Maybe there is an analogous setting in ACR or the other RAW converters out there.

Neutral is my choice.I find portrait being too red.

My understanding is that Picture Styles are a custom-made curve (and possibly a choice of saturation and contrast as well) for a particular type of photographer. There are choices for Standard (analogous to a 20D's Parameters 1), Portrait, Landscape, Neutral, Faithful, etc.
