Right click protection

Maybe it is operator error, but has anybody else been having a problem with the right click protection on their smugmug account. I think i have narrowed it down to the fact that it is ONLY a problem when the gallery is on slideshow....(which of course was my portfolio page the best 30 photos I have).
But when I switched it to some other view form the right click works again.

So I guess my question is anybody else having problems with the right click protection working when the gallery is on slideshow?
It wasnt a problem before.

    Karen,

Go ahead - try to save that image in slideshow mode - it's just a file called "spacer.gif" and it's got nuttin' in it. Can't even get from Jamaica Plain to Southie with it lol3.gif

    Hope this helps,

The only difference is that you don't get the warning dialog

As Andy said, right-click protection is still enabled in slideshow mode and you won't get the image if you try to save it (you will just get a tiny little GIF). The one difference versus the other views is that you don't get the typical warning dialog which is probably why you were confused. I don't know why smugmug doesn't put up the right-click protection warning dialog in slideshow view - perhaps someone from smugmug could explain that.

I forgot to update that page when I redid the right click warning a month or so ago. It will be updated on the next site push.

As soon as I saw Winger's thread, I got with JT and he was able to work it out - clap.gif

BTW John - if/when this gets released (still needs testing so no promises on exactly) the Full Screen slideshow doesn't use cobranding so the custom javascript that's available for customized right-click message won't show on the full-screen - it'll be the standard message.

Under IE6, this holds only true for Large pictures (and originals i guess).
When i view my protected Medium sized images under IE6.0, i can do a 'Save Image as...' and it will save the actual medium sized image to my computer.

For Large pictures, it'll try to save the spacer.gif instead.

ne_nau.gif Anton, try this gallery please:

No larges available - protection on -

    small slideshow, IE6

    full screen, IE6

In both cases, only spacer.gif is what's available. May I see a link to a gallery on your site that shows the behavior you are talking about? Thanks...

    Andy,
On IE6, the same happens on your gallery too (http://andydemo.smugmug.com/gallery...41172172/Medium). However, 'Save Picture As...' only works for the Small version. When doing 'Save Picture As...' on your Medium version, i get the spacer.gif instead.

Verified under the condition that you pause the slideshow immediately as it won't work after the first change of picture.
    Saves the real image.

    Doesn't work on Andy's gallery though. ne_nau.gif

    Strange thing:
One moment the Save Picture As... works, the other moment it doesn't!!!

I go to my (or your gallery). Immediately i do a 'Save Picture As...': I can save the pic on my PC.
Then i wait a couple of minutes or so...: I can save only the spacer.gif!!!!
    Strange!!!!headscratch.gif

Even stranger: the behavior is not exhibited in Safari, Fireforx (Mac) or Firefox (on Windows).

    A screenshot is attached.
    This is what happened:

    1. I clicked on the link inside your original post.
    2. I right-clicked
    3. I got the alert-message that the image is copyrighted!!!
    4. I changed the gallery style to smugmug_small
    5. I changed the gallery style back to slideshow.
    6. Immediately i did a save-picture-as.
    7. The results are the one from the screen-shot.
    8. Wait a little while, a couple of minutes.....
    9. I did a save-picture-as again.
    10. Now, the image spacer.gif was saved instead!!

    Something is broken here.

That's right. All the other browsers (FireFox, Netscape) will only allow me to save the spacer.gif.....

Maybe it has something to do with the infamouse flicker bug (reloading of background-images from the server/cache as soon as you move your mouse over it or other screen-changes)?

BTW: Is the 'white-pixel speckels' problem solved, or is it a IE bug?
I can only see it in IE6, attached a screenshot from Andy's demo gallery
I saw some other threads about this issue, but no resolve. It seems to be an IE bug.

The left image is when the slideshow plays.
The right image happens as soon as you hit the pause-button.
