I've wrote a short blog post on common landscape photography mistakes and what to do to avoid them. Would appreciate any feedback! Let me know if you have any to add too!

Thank you!

Very nice page - lot of useful tips.

I have to say this - I felt a bit cheated, in that this page does not have more pictures, as samples. I see some gorgeous landscape pictures on your blog/, and not as many on this page. I was wishing I could see how you deliver when you change 'from eye level', or when not using wide-angled lenses, or how you are breaking the rules, etc.

But still, thanks for the effort!

Thanks for the write up! My favorite tip is "Following the rules",.. "never do this!"....that made me laugh, because I never do :D

There's a lot of good advice there! I mostly agree. I used to agree about avoiding very large and very small apertures, but lately I've changed my mind.

Thanks, it's great. Especially the part about horizon. It's my mistake too, they are enemies of all the newbies)))

@Countrylovingmamma: I am unfortunately not allowed to post any link. But if you replace www.blog.tomfosterphotos.com by www.edinburghphotography.com it will work.

@JPaccassi: That is because we are new to the forum and only have two post. We are also not allowed to post any photos which makes it difficult to contribute to some discussions. But of course this keeps the forum free of spam.

I can't seem to find the initial link either which is unfortunate as I am going to Edinburgh this fall for several days and want to photograph in Edinburgh, and along Hadrian's Wall, and some of the abandoned abbeys along the southern Scottish border.

I did get to this link but I couldn't find the mistakes link . Tom Foster has some images on his site that are quite lovely

Sorry, haven't been around here for a while!
I've moved to https://edinburghphotography.com and so the article mentioned here is at https://edinburghphotography.com/common-landscape-photography-mistakes/

    Sorry for any confusion!

Edit: I've still got the original domain and have edited the domain forwarding so hopefully it forwards correctly now (or will when the DNS propagates).
Edit 2: Also realised I could still edit the original post so have updated the link!
