No `Phanfare Memories` folder for me

My transfer completed last night...in under an hour. I was pleased with that, after hearing from others that it took several days (my Phanfare account was 230 MB...not sure how big the accounts of others were).

SmugMug support told me that since I was an existing SmugMug customer that all my Phanfare migration would appear in a Phanfare Memories folder. That's not what happened for me: I ended up with everything at the top level. I'm glad I had the premonition to reorganize some existing SmugMug content (all of which was previously-migrated Phanfare content) into a top-level folder prior to the migration...otherwise I'd have a huge mess on my hands.

@leftquark: I don't know how many migrations are left to go or how many of those people have pre-existing SmugMug accounts, but the top-level folder creation didn't work as I was told it should.

For most customers who already had a SmugMug account, it's been working by creating a Phanfare Memories folder and placing all the items in there. I'm not sure why yours didn't go in there. Could you let me know your smugmug account name or email address (sending me a Private Message is fine) and I can dive in?

I had the same problem as Mike -- my gladlee.smugmug.com account ended up with all of my gladlee.phanfare.com galleries at the top level. I just manually moved everything into a Phanfare Fail folder because it was a huge mess. My Phanfare Mirror run (java applet) is getting close to done (on album 1861 out of 2450), having run since last Tuesday. When it's complete I'm going to write a script to rename all the gallery folders according to the date in description.txt, then try uploading into a new Phanfare Migration folder.

@leftquark I see there's a 5000 photo/video limit per gallery, but is there any limit to # of folders I can drag and drop into Organizer? I've got over 78,000 photos & videos to put up there.

As you pointed out individual galleries / folders can only have 5,000 items in them (a folder, for example, could have 5,000 galleries in it, and each gallery could have 5,000 photos in it). If you'd adding photos to a specific gallery, then it can only accept 5,000 images. You can use the "Folder Uploading" feature to upload 78k photos, assuming they're already in folders on your computer with 5,000 images or less. We can actually handle if they have more than 5,000 images and we just create a new gallery with a number appended to it, if it overflows.

Since each folder/gallery can contain only 5,000 items, that's the most that the Organizer can take to move photos around.

    Did that answer your question?

Thanks, yeah, I think I'll be ok. None of my folders have more than 5000 items in them.

Phanfare's limit was 500 items per album section, 3000 images per album.
