Canon repair

I sent my canon 70d in for repair. The camera was freezing when doing video. They have had it a week with no progress. Is this normal? Could I have sent it anywhere else?

Which Canon facility did you send it to?
Did you get recognition from Canon that they have received it?
Are you a CPS member? If so, what tier?

Canon used to send updates via your e-mail. Make sure your spam filter isn't accidentally trapping communication from Canon. The first thing you should get is a repair estimate, which you will have to approve before actual repairs begin.

Regardless, if you have important customer events coming up I recommend rental, just in case.

I got the repair estimate and paid for it. That was last Tuesday. I am not CPS member.

Have you called Canon and asked for a progress report / estimated time of completion?

In my experience, 2-3 weeks can be pretty normal for minor repairs. Depends partly on the backlog of other repairs. As Denise said, you can contact Canon service directly.
