Beeley Moor Heather

I tried for this shot a few nights ago but got badly bitten by the millions of midges on the moor. Looking online I found a product from Scotland that helped so I ventured out onto the moors again.

For a very short period in mid August, the local moors come alive when the heather is in full blossom. The bright purple flowers of the heather sadly only last a few days though. The first shot I took as the sun was starting to set and the light showed the different layers of the hills that start to form the Derbyshire end of the Peak District. The second shot was about ten minutes after sunset and shows what is an old, disused shooting butt.

I really like the second photo; the light perfectly highlights the heather.

I really like the first one. I would tweak the color in the sky a bit and hang it on the wall.

Thanks for the kind words and for spotting the dust spec Stumblebum. I do a check for spots as part of my routine but must have been tiring when I checked that one.

I can't make my mind up between the two images. I really like the layers of the hills if the first one and, as with Denise, like the lighter heather and stonework in the second. I'm hopefully going back later today and if the heather's still showing well, I'll try again.

For second one I would explore how you feel about taking about an inch from top.....cheers!
