Last week I felt a need for warmth and color. In early February (close to home) I can't satisfy that need outdoors so I headed to the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in South Deerfield, MA.

I walked in and stood still for a few minutes before I started to wander, enjoying the warmth, watching butterflies flit about, feeling the touch of the beautiful creatures as they occasionally landed on me.

I'm always happy to share space with butterflies!

1 :: a Cairns birdwing butterfly

2 :: a glasswing butterfly (greta oto) and a malachite butterfly

3 :: emerging from a chrysalis, as seen behind glass

4 :: a bit of camoflage

5 :: two

It's always a bit of a challenge to capture these delicate flying creatures; some stay still for a while, others are in a state of constant movement.

More butterflies from this visit can be seen in the gallery flitter, flutter, butterfly! 2018. All photos were taken with a Fuji X-T2 and the Fuji XF 80mm f/2.8 macro.
