Google is finding my website/keyword???

Recently moved to new city so updated my website and photo keywords to utilize the new city. As I watch my website rankings, I'm finding that instead of displaying my actual website pages its also including other Smugmug pages that google does not need to consider AND what is shows first in search results are my website/keyword.

Where is this "/keyword" coming from?

Would these /keyword results stop if I just go to each gallery and set Web Searchable to "No"? The expectation is also setting to No is there so I can stop the search engines from finding a bunch of my galleries that I don't want to show up in search results.

I assume that I can go to the folder and apply the "No" to all galleries within the folder, but do I also need to do anything with visibility or it can stay as public, unlisted or private, whatever it was?

I also have web pages that display images from a set of galleries within a folder that holds just images I want to use within my web pages. Can I make those galleries Web Searchable set to "No" and not affect the website pages?

Whenever we display keywords on a page (or in the lightbox) they're clickable so the visitor can see all the phtoos tagged with that keyword. The page that loads is a "Keyword page" (with /keyword) showing all the photos with that keyword.

They should drop off if you set it to No. You are correct with your assumption. You shouldn't have to do anything with the Visibility.

So now a couple months have passed after setting all the folders I don't want google to look at to "NO".

Now if I search for example "Tucson Pet Photography", I still see a bunch of results for "keyword" pages which seem to appear around page 2. Here is one of the results that was displayed https://www.mrhoni-photography.com/keyword/Outside/.

Checking in google search console I think it is using /sitemap-index.xml for the sitemap of my website. Below is the contents of that file. Should there be these gallery images sitemaps? Could this be the cause? If yes, how to fix. Otherwise don't know what to do next.

As far as I know I can't see the contents of the site map that Smugmug is supplying. I just did the search again for my keywords and took clicked one of those pages and looked at the source and find this. The "robots" should say content="noindex". Here's one page "https://www.mrhoni-photography.com/keyword/tan;pets;pet photography;white background;chihuahua;portrait/" example.

Now I click the photo of the chihuahua in the frog costume and it tells me its from "Our Dogs".

I go to the Smugmug settings Security & Sharing for the gallery Our Dogs and web searchable is set to "No".

Thus I need help to understand how to resolve this. Some of those "keyword" links that Google found go to pages with No Photos.

I also sent email to Smugmug support and Tristan had responded, but after my follow up Tristan suggested to continue here with this issue.

Here is the text from my last message to Tristan.

Even if google is still displaying old info in the search and doesn’t yet know that I set "web searchable" to "No" on all my galleries and pages that I don’t want Google to see, why does the source code for the web page for the robots line not have content = "noindex"?

I have a feeling that when Smugmug is creating the "keyword" pages, it is ignoring Web Searchable set to No on the page from where the image was found.

    Here’s an example.
Google search gives me this result -
    https://www.mrhoni-photography.com/keyword/San Jose Pet Photography/

All 5 photos displayed on this page show they are from the gallery SAGE display.

I go to the gallery, which is this web page
    https://www.mrhoni-photography.com/Clients/Clients-2015/Business-Partners-2015/SAGE-Display/n-gKjHD5/

Looking at the page source for this web page has content = "noindex", which is what I would expect because I had set Web Searchable to No.

Also, from the DGRIN post, I was understanding that if I set Web Searchable to No, then the Keyword page would no longer be created, but they are still there.

Another problem is some of those search results from Google go to pages that have no photos.
    Here is an example:

Google search gives me this result -
    https://www.mrhoni-photography.com/keyword/438;pet photographer los gatos/

I go to that page and there are "No Photos Found"

The page source does not have content = "noindex".

This makes me think that Smugmug process has not removed that keyword web page. If it did and google still knew of the web page, then I would have expected an error of page not found.

These 3 links are what Google shows me are inside my sitemap sitemapindex xml
