I enjoyed looking at your gallery. It looks like we have similar tastes--I'm also mainly a street shooter. As a tip, I think you'll get better response here if you post your pics inline, like you did on the third post. People are surprisingly lazy about clicking on links.

Thanks for the strategy tips. I'm less adventurous than you, I suppose, as I don't seek out areas that make me uncomfortable. I have tried it some, but I find that my ability to see a good image is impaired when I have to worry about the possibly bad intentions of other people around me. It's just harder for me to get into the right mental zone. Most of the work I have done in Madrid has been in older parts of town that are frequented by tourists, which means that I'm just another guy taking pictures. That makes it easy to blend in without having to conceal my camera. Of course, I have been yelled at on occasion, but never chased or attacked. So far. Mostly, I worry about pickpockets, who also frequent the same areas, but I have devised strategies for protecting my wallet even if I am distracted by what I'm doing.

I meant to comment on this one, but I guess I forgot. While the idea is good, I think the guy in the background is too small for this to work. In general, if you have to point something out to people it's a sign that something has gone wrong.
My son has a saying, "Act like you belong there and no one will bother you". He says it is one of the best things he learned in Theater while in High School.
