This time I'll take a relatively simple and broad subject to hopefully get lots of entries to make my judging a nightmare 
It's Fungi, a subject I enjoy shooting myself a lot and where I live they are just starting to come out in great numbers, so even people who don't have a lot of examples can go out and shoot a few to enter in this mini. You can obviously go to your archive and look what you already have, but in judging I will give a slight edge to shots specifically taken for this mini as a "tie breaker" if needed.

OUR UN-OFFICIAL GENERAL RULES
1. Have fun sharing and seeing what others share!
2. The host supplies a topic and you post 1-3 images. The host judges the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and is not eligible to enter.
The 1st place winner then chooses the next topic, judges the winner and then passes on the baton to the new champion.
3. Any photo you’ve taken is eligible, regardless of when taken or camera used.
4. Any amount of post-processing is allowed. However, it is helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo.
You may comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you some critique or criticism, just ask within your post.
5. The winner has up to three days (72 hours) to begin a new mini-challenge, or the honor goes to the #2 finisher and so forth.
Guidelines:
1. Enter 1-3 photos and put them in a single post.
2. Either embed your image in the thread or, if you must, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website).
3. Also try and resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll (~800 pixels on the longest side works best.)
4. Give each image you enter a title.
5. Enjoy discussion with members about their images, don't let this just be an entry thread!
6. When quoting a post change the IMG urls to a 200x200 size picture so it is clear your post is feedback and not another entry. (see here for help)
7. Don't be hesitant, share'em and enter!
Mini-Challenge pointers:
1. Upon winning a mini-challenge round your first step is coming up with a new theme, and start a new thread using the same format as others have used.
2. Make sure to notify the admin of this thread to update the main thread links with your entry thread.
3. Feel free to watch the thread as it grows or wait to the end time and look at all the entries all at once.
4. After the time/date has passed, then officially close the thread with a single post notifying everyone of the fact.
5. After you're finished judging start a new thread (again use the prior formats) and post your Winner and runners-up, it is important to have runners up in case the winner does not show within the 72hr window.
6. PM the winner with this info above and let them know they have 72hrs.
7. After the 72hrs and the winner does not show up, notify the next runner-up and post a message on the Winner thread of the fact.
8. Remember, if you're the Winner, you run the show.

Unfortunately, the snow has fallen here and the shrooms are all gone. I would have gone out and taken new pics if this was a challenge had started a month ago. I do not have many images of Fungi but here is what I can find.

I've been on a trip (and my camera was giving me a lot of difficulty so I finally defaulted to my cell phone) but I have been looking at my photos and I can't find or remember any of fungi except as an ingredient in food.
I have a few - different and interesting subject, great idea!

I looked around and found three photos which are of fungi (pre-cooked) - not on the level of you other guys but here they are
1) Mushroom. I know I have some others taken at the same time, but I can't find them
2) Lichen. (Corkscrew Swamp)
3) Tree Fungi (Cumberland Island)

Hi @clorton. Welcome to dgrin. Post a few more comments and then you will be able to post some pictures. Looking forward to seeing them.
This is a really neat challenge, and there are a lot of great images already. Since fungi are still present outside here in the lower latitudes of the Pacific Northwest, I wondered if I could capture some fungus images that were worth sharing here.
I also wanted to step away from the traditional mushroom image and share some of the other aspects of fungi. so....
Orange jelly fungus, also known as Witch's butter (this is edible, although I would have to be desperate)
Apple scab, caused by the fungus, Venturia inaequalis. The fungal mycelium is visible on the rim, and the black deposits are likely ejected spores
Grey mold, Botrytis cinarea, sportulating on a tomato stem

During winter two years ago, I ran across a tree stump on a street corner in Auburn, Ca that had amazing layers of fungi growing. I'd never seen such a display. I couldn't stop at the time due to an appointment and ended up never getting back to the tree stump to get the shot. And of course, since then haven't seen the fungi growing again on that stump. I did however, find some interesting mushrooms in my friend's yard about a year later. I don't know what they are, but loved the red coloring.

Fun to see another unusual theme for these minis! We had some amazing mushrooms pop up where we had taken down an old cherry tree, but it was long before this challenge. I had to sit this one out but enjoyed watching from the sidelines. Thanks!
