Full EXIF not showing in unlisted galleries when logged out.

I posted the following in SmugMug Support on August 26, 2018:
I am using a sharegroup to give access to a batch of unlisted galleries containing family photos. I have only just discovered that the full EXIF of images is only shown when logged in. The "logged out" EXIF (seen by the sharegroup) displays only Name, Size, Latitude and Longitude. The MAP display is not affected. Sharegroup members are therefore denied access to the full EXIF details. Is there a way to overcome this anomaly?

Sebastian (rainforest1155) responded on September 6, 2018:
Sorry that your post hadn't been addressed yet. This is a known issue and has already been reported to our QA team. For the time being, there's not a workaround available and photos in unlisted galleries would only display very minimal photo information as you've already noticed.
I added your report to the existing bug ticket.

Nothing appears to have happened since then. Can we look forward to this bug being fixed?
I shall be most grateful to have some feedback. Thank you.

Can you send me an example so I can dive in a little further?

If we allowed you to "Collect" Galleries into Folders, would that replace the need for you to use Sharegroups?

Thank you Aaron for your response.
Here is a screen shot of the "logged in" EXIF display of an image in a Sharegroup of Private Galleries.

Among the "Show More" details is the Altitude, which is highly relevant for my purposes. This is shown below:

When "logged out" the display is much attenuated, not showing the altitude, which I need.

Unfortunately, using "Collect" Galleries would not replace my need to use Sharegroups.

Following my original posting last year, radialMelt on November 6, 2018 added:
Hi, I would like to add my voice to the occurrences of this bug. And would also love to see it sorted.
I use a smart gallery on my home page to collect all photos marked with a particular keyword. But often these photos are pulled from private galleries and the EXIF data is not available until those galleries are unlocked, which is not practical.
    Thanks for working on this!

I hope that this helps to define my problem; I shall be most grateful for any help you can offer.

Could you explain what you use Sharegroups for that collecting galleries into a folder wouldn't do? Folders have similar (or more) privacy settings, and would serve as 1 link to use for bringing specific galleries into 1 place. Using the Organizer you can re-arrange the order of the galleries. And since folders are Customizable, you'd get more options on how they looked to your visitors.

I'm trying to get a better sense of how Sharegroups are used.

Thank you for your response which, I confess, somewhat confuses me.
For a number of years, I have been using sharegroups to share multiple unlisted galleries via a single link.
I have followed this scheme: https://smugmug.kustomer.help/share-multiple-unlisted-galleries-with-one-link-H19eePJNBf

Doing as you suggest: i.e. creating a folder (unlisted) and loading it with unlisted galleries does not work for me. The link to the folder so created does not display the contained unlisted galleries.
The sharegroup method gives me exactly what I need in terms of linking and navigating via breadcrumbs; but the downside is the attenuation of EXIF data when not "logged in". It is this problem which triggered my original posting last year.
Perhaps I am being rather stupid here? I shall be grateful to you for your help.

There's a bug where the metadata for all unlisted galleries (regardless of sharegroup) is being hidden to visitors. It's at the API level and at the moment our API team is hard at work finalizing getting Flickr onto the SmugMug ecosystem. I'm trying to tackle it as part of another project but I don't have any ETA on when it could be fixed.

For the unlisted galleries that you're putting into the Sharegroup, could you make them Public and their parent folder Unlisted, or do you specifically need these galleries to be Unlisted?

Making the parent folder Unlisted would hide the public galleries from prying eyes, but if you shared a link to the Folder, the public Galleries inside would be visible.

For example, I have a "Family" folder that is Unlisted. I then have folders for "Trip to Hawaii 2019", "Norway Ski Trip", etc. Inside each of those I have Public Galleries for "Day 1", "Day 2", etc. I then share the Unlisted Folder link for "Norway Ski Trip" with my family and they can easily view the several galleries within .... without having to create a Sharegroup.

Thank you for confirming that a bug is the cause of my problem. Evidently it was identified quite a long time ago.

For the unlisted galleries that you're putting into the Sharegroup, could you make them Public and their parent folder Unlisted, or do you specifically need these galleries to be Unlisted?

I shall try to do this and will play around with making unlisted galleries Public. Having a large number of unlisted galleries, it may be quite a big job. I shall report back.

Thank you for your help - it seems that I was not being so stupid after all!

Aaron, adopting the scheme which you suggested, I created an Unlisted folder and populated it with Public galleries. A link to the Unlisted folder was recorded.
When "logged out", using this link to the Unlisted folder displayed the Public galleries BUT the EXIF data within the Public galleries were severely curtailed exactly as if the galleries were Unlisted.
So, we are no further forward! The bug appears to raise its ugly head even if a Public gallery is contained within an Unlisted folder.
    Any ideas?

Looks like the bug goes deeper than I had imagined. It's probably a leftover remnant of the time when "Unlisted" was inherited down to children galleries from the parent folder. We now allow you to have Public children but the metadata isn't being applied. I'll add that to the bug ticket so we squash it all when we can fix it.

I managed to wrangle a fix for this as part of another project we're working on. It's in QA right now so hopefully should be working as you expect in the near future.

The bug has been certainly been fixed; all my EXIF data are now, at last, showing as required.
Thanks to all concerned, in particular to you Aaron for applying pressure in the right places.
    Best wishes.
