Burnt Cove

Burnt Cove is a lobster collection and wholesaling port, one of several that make Stonington the largest volume lobster port in Maine.

A boat comes into the collection area with the day's catch. The permeable floating gray and blue tubs each hold about 100 lbs. of lobster.

The Marine Patrol is there to verify that minimum size requirements are met.

The Patrolman must be happy, he is helping them unload.

The scale reads 91.2 lbs.

Not a bad day's work. I counted 6 tubs, approx 600 lbs at $6.50 per lb wholesale price.
