I have another link in the Cameras section covering this EOS R body and lenses, but this thread will be more video-centric.

To kick the thread off, here's a recent video from Canon USA:

That selfie stick is HEEYOOOOGGEE!!! lol

This is a GREAT video review, especially love the field use aspect, and she talks about some of the doo-dads with actual use knowledge. I really like the drop-in filter slot in the one lens...pretty slick.

Switching To The CANON EOS R?!

In this video I take the EOS R out for a spin on a photoshoot to try it out for the first time. I upgraded from the 5D Mark IV (don't worry I still use/love my XT3!) – mainly for photography because I love the look of full frame for fashion style stuff.

Some stuff I was curious about was the crop 1080p mode. It crops into 1.7x (same as 4K crop) and I think it gives a really sharp image. I actually put the 4K and 1080 crop footage side by side and could hardly tell the difference even at 100%! The 50p is really nice too! + C-LOG is not terrible - I don't like using LOG profiles much since they don't hold up under ANY compression 10 bit or not but it wasn't too bad on the R.

Obviously for photography this thing is epic. A little step up from the 5D IV especially usability and weight wise – buttons are way more customisable. Only thing I don't like is how many buttons you have to press to switch from photo to video mode. I know you can set a custom C3 and press record to switch but it doesn't carry across your current EV settings :(

All in all – solid camera. Looking forward to making more content for you guys with this beast.

Old schoolers don't wanna admit it, but the old DSLR technology is ion it's way out. Mirrorless is quickly on its way to becoming the new standard across the board. Especially when talking videos.

Canon EOS R + Speed Booster = FIXED 4K CROP! (Metabones EF to RF adapter first look)

Ever since the Canon EOS R came out, the 4K mode's crop factor was a real issue for a lot of people. Not because the image quality was bad... or not even because it had a crop...it was the fact that the crop was an awkward 1.8x crop making is WORSE than an APS-C camera! Well...now...out of nowhere, Metabones makes the new Canon EF to RF speed booster ULTRA 0.71x (EOS R)! Does this new mount change everything for the EOS R in 4k? Will this come in handy for the new RED Komodo camera? This also works great on the Canon EOS RP but you don't have the autofocus in 4K using dual pixel.

In this video, we test the resolution in 4k vs. 1080p. Full frame and crop mode. Autofocus tests using eye autofocus modes. ISO and low light tests, and more!

    Canon EOS-R with Metabones Speedbooster

EOS R is the first [Full-Frame] Canon Mirrorless Canon produced in 2018. And that camera featured 10Bit 4K unto 480Mbps. Which isn’t bad at all. (Sony is still 8Bit at the moment). But one of the big downside of this Canon EOS-R is the heavy crop when shooting 4K. And because the crop factor is 1.76x. Which properly the main reason why so many people didn’t wanna buy this camera.

But this may have changed now, Metabones just announced the EF to RF T Speedbooster Ultra for the EOS R. And when I saw the news, I pre-ordered mine straight away.

So I gotta say, this adapter is pretty impressive. And not only it gives you a wider field of view. It also gives you one extra stop of light. So the 16-35mm f/4.0L IS USM is now become f/2.8. (Maybe you don’t even need the 15-35mm)

Over all, I’m pretty happy with this lens adapter. Its super sharp. Although its a bit pricy. But if you do a lot of 4K on your EOS-R. This adapter is definitely worth it.

    Note:
The Speedbooster will only giving you close to full frame. It is still around 1.1x on EOS RP, and 1.2x on EOS R
