I wanted to see some late summer dragonflies. This visit to Decoy Heath, Pond 1, showed the diversity to be down. I was about to move on when a Hawker flew across the water towards me. (I saw one later, at the stream but it never settled in view).

I have a copy of the official records for the reserve and the last time this species was recorded there was in August 2014. So seeing it laying eggs there is encouraging.

Olympus EM-1 (aperture priority), Panasonic 100 - 400mm Leica DG Vario-Elmar at 400mm, 1/400 at f9.
