Mini Challenge #298- Look Up!

Third_SonThird_Son Registered Users Posts: 30 Big grins

Thanks to all for the nod to proctor this month's challenge. I have looked through the past challenges and wanted to try something that has not been mentioned before (it was difficult to do!). For this month's theme we are looking up though the lens. Whether it be laying on your back on a sunny day, exploring the underneath of something interesting, or finding your very own "Sistine Chapel"

The challenge will end on April 24th at 0600 EDT. Good Luck!

Here are the latest rules if you need a quick refresher:

I am a very short person and I have learned there is a whole different world when I look up. Here are a few selections for this challenge.

1 Cathedral of the Spilt Blood (St. Petersburg, Russia)

    2 Sunshine through Birch trees

3 A Pecker peckin' at my roof!

Since we visit a lot of places with great ceilings and also spend a fair amount of time outside looking up at trees and nature I had a lot of choices. I narrowed it down to these three.

    1) On a recent trip to Paris, looking up into the Pyramid at the Louvre

    2) Salzburg cathedral, ceiling of one of the side chapels

    3) Looking up the trunk of a cherry tree

Getting into my garden with camera has been one of the few distractions lately. This challenge got me thinking about a different perspective on the garden, so a couple of images from that exploration plus one old one. Great Challenge @Third_Son

    1. Daffodils, bug's eye view

    1. Hellelborus bug's eye view

    1. Decay (from the archives)

I don't really have anything on the level with what has already been posted, but I will share what I have.

    1. View of U.S. Capitol Building (taken from a tunnel underneath the building)

    2. Looking up at the Rotunda

    3. Butterfly on Flower: This cosmos plant was taller than me (it reached all the way up to the eave of my house). I was trying to get this butterfly to come down to the lower blooms so I could get a nice pic of the butterfly, but she didn't cooperate. I ended up with this one instead, and I decided that I liked it. :)

I decided to "Look UP" at one of my favorite things to photograph - Lighthouses

    1. Inside of Piney Point Lighthouse

(outside of the lighthouse for comparison)

    2. Top of Ragged Point Lighthouse

    3. Cape Hatteras

I was going to use a photo of the underside of a lift bridge as our mast passed under it, but I thought it would be too hard to explain and also it wasn't such a good photo.
