More specs about the new full-frame 8K mirrorless camera: the Canon EOS R5! Yes, it provides full-width 8k video at 29.97 with 4:2:2 10-bit INTERNAL recording (with Canon Log and HDR!) Amazing! It also offers 4k video at 120p, ALSO at 4:2:2 10-bit internal. It has 1 CFExpress slot and 1 SD UHS-II, which could be a limiting factor. Tony calculated the megapixels of the R5 based on the 8k DCI with no crop: it's going to be a 45 megapixel camera.

Tony Northrup also provides a quick overview of the the Canon C300 Mark III video camera.

Man, Canon really dropped a bomb with this one, making quite a statement in the mirrorless community. I'm excited to see what kind of low-light performance this camera gives, as well as the amount of dynamic range offered. Canon is notorious for sandbagging on those two items, but with this release, they may very well have knocked it outta the park on that front as well.

Now if only Sony would AT LEAST start offering 10-bit color!

The Canon EOS R5 - In the hands of Ivan D’Antonio

"Award-winning filmmaker Ivan D’Antonio shares how he put the new Canon EOS R5 through its paces on a landscape shoot in the mountainous in the Abruzzo region of Italy, as well as in the more intimate setting of a yoga class.

“I come from a painting background, so I consider the camera as a brush, palette and canvas combined,” Ivan explains “I need it to be an extension of my arms and my mind, so I look for the form factor, smart tools such as customisable buttons that I can use comfortably, great colours and dynamic range. The Canon EOS R5 meets all these requirements.” "
