I like it for much the same reason I liked the pelicans. Frame that top one as a single. With the right matting and framing, it could be quite impressive.
I agree with @black mamba - frame the top piece!

I too agree about framing the top image....however.....
I would also consider (a) framing the entire piece or alternative (b) framing the top separately and then framing the bottom image separately, as a companion piece.
Creatively, then there is option (c)...
Keep the single image.
Keep the top image and then with the bottom images, show the progression from original (presumedly color) through the two steps, which proceeded and resulted in the final top image. The black background adds contrast and impact to the overall image.
Your "eye" and creativity provide almost endless options and opportunities.
