Create a gallery of ALL photos

I'm looking for a way to create a gallery of all of my photos, so users can scroll through every photo I've taken without going through a more specific gallery.

I've tried the "recent photos" widget, but that only shows the most recent 48 photos, and it doesn't give me the UI with the thumbnails on the left and the lightbox on the right.

I also tried using a smart gallery collecting photos from 2000 to 2030, and that comes pretty close to exactly what I want, but it only shows the most recent 1,000 photos. And it sounds like a gallery can only contain a maximum of 5,000 photos, so maybe a gallery isn't what I want after all.

The private "library" view that I see at https://www.smugmug.com/app/photos would also be pretty perfect. Is there a way to get a similar page that's visible to all users, not just me?

I want to do this because historically, I've stored photos taken with my phone in a separate gallery from my "real" photos. But now that my phone can take better pictures than I can, I'd like to get a combined view of all of my photos.

Any advice for how to approach this? Thanks!

If it helps, my page is here: https://photos.kevinworkman.com/

Hey Kevin. The only way to do this is to move your images directly to the gallery, where you would like to display all of your content at once. Yes, you are correct - there is a limit of 5000 images per gallery. But 5000 images, that is a lot of content to scroll through.

I have a bunch of galleries that are limited to viewing 1000 photos. What's this 5000 number?
These are keyword and smart galleries based on KW's.

Allen. The 5000 images/videos limit is for galleries that do not include collected photos. This include collected manually or using rules from Smart Galleries. Galleries can hold up to 5000 images if you upload directly to them.

    Thanks for the replies!

I think what I'm going to do is convert my current galleries into device-specific galleries, and then create a smart gallery for each year. That way I can still upload my photos the same way I've been doing forever, but users can still browse all my photos for a particular year without first picking a particular camera or phone.

There is a chance that some of the years will have more than 1000 photos, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

    Hi @tomnovy

Just to confirm, does that mean if any galleries have manually collected images (ie not Smart Galleries), the overall gallery limit is 1000, or is it 1000 collected and 5000 total?

To put the query in context, I take transport photos. My MO to date has been to upload to a trip gallery (eg all buses taken in a day), then used Smart Galleries to create galleries for specific bus companies (eg Nottingham City Transport). I've then shared links via social media. I didn't appreciate the 1000 limit on Smart galleries at the time, but am hitting it with some operators now. However, I don't really want to move the photos as that would destroy the links previously shared, so I was intending to collect existing photos into a new operator gallery and then upload there in the future, and use Smart Galleries to create the Trip sets. If the 1000 limit applies to the number of images where any image is collected manually, I'm going to have to rethink my strategy.

    Thanks!

Collected galleries have had a limit increase to 5,000 total. Smart galleries however remain at the 1,000 image limit.
